[THIS IS SUCH AN ABRUPT THING that Kashuu stops on a dime where he'd been walking, having been midway through raising a hand in greeting.]

—Um. [HEWWO. This is the first time he's run into this today, hilariously, so he's truly taken off his guard. WHAT DOES HE DO WHEN A HUMAN DOES SOMETHING LIKE THIS???]

...D'you... wanna talk about it...?

[He blinks a few times. And then he looks a little embarrassed.]

I...guess? I mean, it's not something I think about a lot, but suddenly I felt like I needed to talk about it?

Huh...

[He doesn't even immediately leap to "IT WAS THE PRISM" in his mind, though he's a little suspicious.]

Um - well! Okay, how 'bout we go somewhere more comfortable and we can chat about it, then? My floor's got great couches.

Oh! Sure. Sitting somewhere comfortable is probably better.

[He doesn't mind visiting other apartments, it's actually kind of exciting to see new places like that.]

[TO THE ELEVATORSSS and all the way up to the very tippety top floor... Kashuu's always proud to show his floor off like a dingbat, so. TA-DA. He'll step aside to let Atsushi in first.]

He actually hasn't been to the Metallic apartment yet, so his eyes are wide when he sees it.]

This is really fancy, I didn't know we had places like this here.

[Oh, that just makes him even more delighted to play host!]

Right? Isn't it nice? It's definitely the best floor! [HE HASN'T EVEN SEEN ALL OF THEM YET.]

C'mon, the seats are over this way-- Want a snack or something, while you're here?

[He is going to follow and look for a place to sit though, because yes.]

We have some chocolate up here that's totally to-die for!

[AWAY HE BOUNDS TO GET SOME but not before gesturing Atsushi in the direction of their seating area! Look at those fluffy carpets and plush pillows and luxurious velvet couches, wrow.]

[Time to conquer a few pillows eyyy

Atsushi will look very comfortable by the time Kashuu comes back.]

Chocolate, you say?

[He's very glad that a good lad seems to be making himself at home, and he'll promptly join in on the cozy seating party by flopping into a nearby recliner. And then holding out some chocolates! They're extremely bougie-looking, like those handmade artisan truffles sold individually in boxes that look like tiny little cases for diamonds. Damn.]

Ta-da! Here, here - try one and let me know if you like it!

[Placing a few on the table between them!]

[He stares down at the box. And suddenly he really feels how fancy the place is.]

I-I can't eat those! They're too nice!

[SWEET ATSUSHI!! Kashuu just laughs...]

Geez, so many of you guys say stuff like that! Just take one. Nice chocolate is the least of what this place owes us, honestly.

I used to get punished harshly for digging expired candy out of the trash...I can't imagine just eating something this nice.

[But Kashuu offered, so he'll at least take one out of the box to look at it.]

[Ah, yes... Takes him back to the wildass thing Atsushi started this whole conversation with. He'll nudge a couple of the other ones across the table to Atsushi's side, giving him a quiet stare for a second.]

Mm... Did you - What kinda place did you come from?

I'm guessing you mean where I grew up, so...

[It is. A lot. But he considers his words before he speaks again.]

I told you I don't remember anything before I was 8, yeah? Well, from 8 to 18, I lived in an orphanage. I'm guessing I lived there before then too, I just don't remember it. They always told me that my parents left me there when I was a toddler.

[He just listens, quiet and attentive, with his chin propped up by the heel of his palm. An orphanage... Yeah, he's heard some rough stories about places like that.]

--S'that not true, then? Or did you ever find out...?

I don't know if it is or not. But they don't have a reason to lie about it, right?

[He never really questioned it honestly.]

But resources were scarce and there were a lot of kids there. The people running the orphanage, they had to be very strict to keep everyone in line. So I didn't get many treats or things like this.

[He's still looking over the piece of chocolate in his hand.]

[It's just the way Atsushi had worded it that made him wonder if there was more to the story, but he nods at that.

The rest of what he says isn't surprising either, and now he feels a little bad about giving this guy such a hard time over his trashcan hot dog... But!!]

Now's the time to make up for it, then! No one's gonna give you grief for having a few treats here.

[There absolutely is more, but good luck getting him to admit to everything.

Especially now that he's looking at the chocolate again. He considers Kashuu's words, and then he finally pops it onto his mouth and chews.

And then his eyes light up.]

[Tragically, Kashuu is a sword that lets many people keep their hobbit secrets...

But his expression does genuinely brighten at that! He's truly a lad that's like "damn if other people are having a good time then so am I".]

Right? See? It's super good! You can totally come over and have more, if you want.

I get the feeling I'll have a stomachache if I eat too many.

[That isn't a no to coming over another time though.]

All at once, yeah... I guess that's true, huh?

[Oh, humans. So very, very delicate with such delicate baby stomachs.]
