Given that we almost starved earlier this week, we shouldn't be wasting food! There's no knowing when our resources might get taken away!

The fighting and weird magic is important too, but so are our basic needs.

[assogi]

There's other greasy food in the apartment.

...it's going to be like. A couple hours after trial. Because Atsushi is going to heal up his legs just enough that they will actually work and he can walk there himself instead of having to be carried around.

Is Kazuma still awake? Or is Atsushi walking in on a sleeping boy?]

[assogi]

[ he's absolutely not sleeping. he'll never sleep again he's too emo. he's kneeling in the archway, hand bandaged. ]

[ when he sees atsushi, there's a ghost of a smile on his face. ]

.... You did very well today, Atsushi-san.

[ ironic that last week, kazuma was the one to accuse him, and now it's come full circle. ]

[ aa can't help being an aa mentor despite his depresso ]

Atsushi will end up sitting down not too far inside the door, mostly because every step is painful. He's sitting nearby, and that's good enough for now.]

I had to find the truth. Normally the whole 'trials' thing isn't a part of what I do, but I'm still a detective. Finding clues, pursuing people who've wronged others, that's what we do at the Armed Detective Agency.

[He pauses there, watching Kazuma carefully.]

...I know you weren't in your right mind. That what happened, it's because you were manipulated. And that's the mystery I want to solve. "Why is this happening" and "how can we stop it".

[assogi]

[ well he also won't sleep bc he'll probably die but eh ]

Seeking the truth is important, no matter what role you play.

[ so yeah. ]

I can't shed a lot of light on this, because I don't understand, myself... but I will tell you what I know.

[He can't expect Kazuma to explain what he doesn't know after all.]

Do you remember when things changed? So like, when you started to think Ryunosuke-san was attacking you?

[assogi]

He did attack me. I wasn't lying.

We woke up together, and decided to investigate why only we were awake. When we reached the carnival, he began acting strangely. He claimed he couldn't trust me, and attacked. That's when we started fighting. At first, I was trying to shake some sense into him... but it wasn't long before I lost control, myself.

So you both were affected?

[Makes sense. Why affect just one when you could affect both?]

And it started when you got to the carnival...where did you go before that? Or did you just go from the medbay to the carnival?

[assogi]

We went straight to the carnival from there. We figured any strangeness would have been coming from one of the original locations.

Ryunosuke would never behave like that on his own. He's a good man.

Sort of like how the first time it was at the mansion...yeah, I understand.

Did you feel compelled to avoid being discovered at the trial too?

[assogi]

I don't know.

You don't know? You put up this big act of finding out who Ryunosuke-san's killer was, but it was you the whole time.

[assogi]

[ hmmmm ]

[ kazuma cants his head ]

... I had to do it. He wasn't right.

I did what I had to do. You wouldn't understand.

You're right, I don't understand it at all, and I'm trying to learn why you did what you did so that I can understand.

[assogi]

Ryunosuke wasn't himself. He would have killed others. He had to be put in his place.

Do you understand now?

I get that part. I'm understanding what you're saying there. What I don't get is why you spent nine hours going "who could have killed him" when you knew it was you.


Last week, when I was the 'culprit', I spent the whole time guiding people towards the right answer. But you were combative the whole way and insisted on checks that wouldn't have revealed anything helpful in discovering what happened. So, why? Were you forced to act like that? Or is there another reason?
