[Well RIP to them, onto the floor they go.

Atsushi tries to yelp in pain as they fall, but his voice is hoarse and it barely squeaks out. Still, he's trying to grab onto her and hold onto her like his life depends on it.]

I'm sorry, I'm so sorry-

[she makes a tiny noise of pain and surprise as she hits the ground, but she blinks after a moment, given how distressed he seems.]

For what? I only fell, I will be fine...

[His words become a mess of sobs for a moment, as he struggles with getting control of himself.

It's okay. She's right here, she's fine. It's all okay. Breathe in, breathe out.

...it's not working as well as he would like, but he's able to talk again after a moment.]

You were right there and I couldn't-

[it rings true enough to what happened to her today that she doesn't need more prompting to understand what he probably saw. after a moment:]

...It wasn't real. I'm safe.

Though I know that doesn't always make it easier.

[He pauses suddenly, and he lifts his head up enough to really look at her. How visibly injured is she right now?]

[her shirt is torn and he can see a pretty bad cut moving down her abdomen, but it's healed just enough that it's not bleeding anymore. one of her injuries is on her back so he can't see it from where he is, and everything else except the burn on her hand is covered by her clothes.

she's silent while he looks at her, before:]

Atsushi...?

[She's injured, but not in the way he remembers seeing her injured. And that makes him frown deeply.]

You're hurt. What happened to you?

[That might be the clearest thing he's said since before his CYOA.]

I should be asking you that. I mean, your legs...

[frowning! but, after a moment:]

I only got in a few fights.

...I didn't fight.

[He seems to shrink down a little bit when he admits to that.]

I thought it was better not to fight. That you- that the person who looked like you, that they would stop if I didn't fight back.

[allomantic]

[her expression twists, growing angry - though that anger isn't directed at him.]

You shouldn't think that of anyone. I... What did she do to you?

[He just.

Looks down at his legs.]

You must promise me that next time you will fight back, regardless of who attacks.

[Almost immediately he is shaking his head.]

What's the point of fighting back if it just hurts my friends? If I can be hurt and they can be safe, then that's okay.

[allomantic]

It's not. You could have been killed.

[moonlightbeast]

['I was killed', he wants to say. But when he even thinks about the words, a painful knot ties itself up in his throat.

The truth is way too complicated to explain. So instead, he says something else:]

If I fight off people and live, then I'll end up alone anyway. So what's the point?

You won't, though... Unless everyone you care about attacks you, which seems unlikely to me.

[after a second, though, she sighs.]

I doubt either of us are in the mood to argue.

[He finally lets go of her though. He needs to be careful about how much physical contact he has, or else he might get too attached to it.]

What we need is rest.

[allomantic]

[nodding.]

It is... probably not a good idea for you to try to go far from here.

[Right, his legs. His legs which are probably screaming in pain right now, but he can't feel it because painkillers.]

I can just...lay down on a bed in here.

[there's a tiny smile despite herself, before she nods.]

Alright. So... My side is still injured, but I think I should be able to give you a boost... Or is there a different way we could do this?

[moonlightbeast]

Well...I think I can lift myself up with my upper body strength, but can you help with my legs?

[They broke and he can't move them very much without using his hands, and his hands need to lift himself up onto the bed.]

[allomantic]

[she nods, but before she does that, just to be safe:]

It will not hurt you if I touch them?

I'm used to pain, and I can't feel much right now anyway.

[He did. Kind of fall out of bed onto his legs. Whoops.]
