That's exactly the kind of thing that elections are supposed to prevent! An unaging leader who leads for thousands of years will stagnate at best, or fall into corruption at worst!

I won't say it's perfect, there's ways for unscrupulous people to take advantage of it. But so long as most people involved mean well, it can be done in a way that protects everyone. I'm not an expert on it or anything though, I just know what I was taught. And it sounds better than "one unaging person controls everything" to me.
