[Atsushi is trying to sleep. Key word being 'trying' because he gasps awake after a short while. He sits up in his bed, looking a bit panicked, but he sees that he's in the medbay and it's Clarte there and not a certain someone else. So the shock wears off, and he sighs.]

Sorry. Looking for someone?

[His default is to assume anyone coming near him is looking for someone else. Atsushi your self-esteem.]

No, I thought I would check up on you. Are you... well, "are you all right" isn't really the question to ask right now, I suppose.

It's alright, I think I get the sentiment.

[He would be asking exactly the same thing if he weren't hurt right now.]

I'll be alright, thank you.

Is there anything you need right now? You should probably keep resting.

[moonlightbeast]

Rest sounds good, yes.

[His stomach growls.]

[they laugh gently.]

Unfortunately, I'm not much of a cook, unless you're into boiled eggs... but I can grab some snacks from the game room for you, if you'd like.

We mostly have ingredients there too.

[It's so horrible, none of the ambers are cooks.]

...you could just...stay a while too?

Sure. [they will sit down on the floor somewhere.] If you need it, I can actually conjure up a bit of food.

[Hurrah for food, Atsushi does appreciate them.]

Later, maybe. I don't know if I can even keep anything down right now.

That's fair enough. I'm a bit concerned about how long it might've been since all of you last ate or drank anything, but an ordeal probably isn't good for the appetite.

I ate some fruit from the birthday cake, but I'm not sure if that was even real.

[hm. well, good thing they're not going to be locked in any time soon and possibly out of the reach of food, right.

The birthday cake...?

We made a cake. Or...I guess Damien made a cake. But I put fruit on it!

[georeject]

I'm afraid I don't follow. [a beat] Also, Damien can bake?

[moonlightbeast]

The fruit was a topping to make it tastier. And yes, he can bake! Surprising, isn't it?

That is actually very endearing, yes. Why were you making a cake in the first place?

It was Kagemaru's birthday.

[georeject]

Ah, yes.

... And who was Kagemaru, exactly?

clarte is wandering about, moke following beside them, when they spot atsushi.]

... Hello, Atsushi. You were very brave there.

[they feel like saying "good job" or something along those lines is inappropriate given that... well, probably no one but marie's alter ego feels good about how things went down.]

[Atsushi definitely does not feel good about how things went down. But it's alright, because if anything he seems a bit more determined now.]

I'm just glad I was able to pull through and be brave at the right time. We found out so much because of it.

... We did. I suspect it'll be a very difficult path from here—but we won't get anywhere without the truth.
